"Jeopardy Style"
With Your Host, Mr. Keith Hughes

Welcome to another exciting Quiz Bowl tournament. This year we are going to shift the format a little bit and approach the quiz bowl in a Jeopardy Format. Here are the rules.

1. Each high school will be allowed to enter two teams of four students (three members and an alternate). Schools must notify Mr. Hughes by February 9th in order to be registered for play. Please email your school name, a list of your team(s) with student names. Please include contact information for the faculty adviser.

2. Three teams will play at one time. Each team with receive one wireless remote control which will be controlled by one self chosen member of the team. The individual will also serve as the spokesperson for the group. The first response from this individual will be the accepted answer.

3. Games, excluding the Championship game, will consist of one round of Jeopardy, including six categories of African American History with five questions. The Championship game will consist of two round of Jeopardy. A Final Jeopardy will end each game.

4. After each question is read out loud, teams may buzz in. Once a team is recognized, the team spokesman will have five seconds to answer the "question" before a buzzer sounds. If the buzzer sounds, I will ask for your answer. You must answer immediately or you will be considered incorrect. Points WILL BE DEDUCTED for incorrect answers, be VERY careful before ringing in.

5. If a team answers incorrectly, other teams will be able to buzz in and attempt to answer.

6. Each single round of Jeopardy includes a hidden daily double. Teams when receiving the daily double question may bet up to the total amount of their score or the highest amount offered on the scoreboard (which ever is higher). Only teams who pick the daily double may answer it.

7. Only teams with a positive amount of points will advance to Final Jeopardy.

8. Before wagering, teams will be informed of the Final Jeopardy category. Teams may bet up to the amount of points they have, all bets must be written down.

9. Teams will have ten seconds following the reading of the Final Jeopardy question to write their answer down.

10. All decisions on timing and accuracy of answers are to be determined solely by Mr. Keith Hughes. Any formal protests must be made with Mrs. Crystal Barton.

11. Team members who fail to comply with the rules and regulations outline for student conduct according to Buffalo Public Schools may be disqualified from the tournament and cause their team to be removed from the tournament.
